Job summary

Spinifex State College seeks a dedicated staff member to join the Residential Campus boarding team in North West Queensland. You will supervise students, mentor them throughout schooling and liaise with students, parents and the school to meet wellbeing and pastoral care needs.

The role requires active supervision, a rotating roster including nights and weekends, and a commitment to providing a safe home-away-from-home environment for secondary students.

Qualifications

• Mandatory First Aid certification.
• Working with Children Blue Card required.
• Current driver’s licence required.
• LHR bus licence or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

The role involves active supervision of students and activities both on and off campus, mentoring and supporting students throughout their schooling, and working closely with students, parents and the school to ensure their wellbeing and pastoral care needs are met.

Spinifex State College is a three campus educational facility. Our Junior Campus caters to years 7-9, Senior Campus years 10-12 and the Residential Campus houses all boarding students.

Your Opportunity

• Be responsible for the provision of a safe and secure environment away from home for secondary students attending the residential campus as well as monitoring the health and wellbeing of these students.
• Liaise with the students, school and parents of students on a regular basis to recognise any educational, social, emotional or behavioural problems.

This is a 24-hour, seven-day boarding facility, with staff working a variety of weekday, weekend and active/awake night shifts during school terms.

Previous experience working with adolescents, particularly in a boarding school environment, is highly desirable.
