Job summary

Hempel is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth across energy and infrastructure markets in Australia. You will identify, develop and convert specifications, projects and customer opportunities into commercial wins, while building strong relationships and ensuring cross-functional collaboration.

You'll lead pipeline development across segments, secure specification positions, oversee product trials and drive cross-selling to expand market presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing or related field preferred or similar experience.
• Proven track record in business development or sales with specifiers, engineers or owners in industrial coatings or related products.
• Experience in specification selling, project conversion, and CRM pipeline management.
• Thorough understanding of technical sales processes, including technical specification development.
• Ability to work collaboratively across functions and manage complex stakeholder networks.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities across assigned segments/sub-segments, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
• Secure specification positions and project involvement to achieve sales and margin targets, with emphasis on strategic areas.
• Initiate, oversee and support product trials, introductions, and cross-selling opportunities to drive product adoption.
• Generate specifications (CPQ) for key CRM pipeline opportunities to support conversion into sales.
• Initiate, develop and retain trusted relationships with strategic customers—architects, specifiers, asset owners, engineers and contractors.
• Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
