Job summary

Canva is seeking a Senior Mobile Build Systems Engineer to own the build and release foundations for iOS and Android. You’ll define guidelines for Bazel, Gradle, and Xcode within a large-scale monorepo, shaping the future of mobile CI/CD across platforms.

You’ll lead architecture decisions, drive a cross-team migration strategy, and partner with Mobile Workflows and Web/Product teams to deliver reliable, scalable tooling for a Portable Platform.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on expertise with Bazel, Gradle, or Xcode build systems at production scale.
• Track record delivering complex projects spanning multiple teams — migrations, monorepo consolidations, or build infra at scale.
• Mobile development background with strong preferences for iOS and Android tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap for Bazel build rules, React Native bundling and codegen, balancing short-term fixes with long-term foundations.
• Mature Canva's mobile release tooling, including OTA and staged rollout for reliable shipping.
• Lead the staged migration of mobile repos into Canva's monorepo, ensuring build/test/release continuity.
