Job summary

Canva is seeking an experienced engineer to own the mobile build and release foundations. You’ll define Bazel/Gradle/Xcode strategies, migrate mobile repos into a monorepo, and shape the CI/CD pipeline across iOS and Android.

You’ll set standards and mentor teams to ensure reliable, scalable foundations for a Portable Platform. You’ll drive cross-team alignment with Mobile Workflows, Cross Platform and Build Platform, while building a shared foundation that supports web and mobile in a unified

Qualifications

• Build systems depth including Bazel, Gradle, or Xcode at scale.
• Track record delivering complex cross-team migrations or infra projects.
• Strong mobile engineering background in iOS/Android and cross-platform tooling.

Responsibilities

• Define the build architecture roadmap for Bazel, React Native bundling and codegen.
• Mature mobile release tooling including OTA and staged rollout.
• Lead monorepo migration ensuring continuity of build, test and release.
• Set quality gates and CI/CD strategy for multiple teams.
• Evolve React Native build pipeline to serve web and mobile.
• Coordinate across Mobile Workflows, Cross Platform and Build Platform.
• Mentor engineers and establish enduring engineering standards.
