Job summary

Canva is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own mobile development tooling and drive the unified Portable Platform strategy across iOS, Android, and web. You will lead the test automation framework, define quality gates, and consolidate fragmented workflows into a cohesive system across Canva’s Mobile Platform group.

You’ll mentor teams, shape tooling and testing infrastructure, and partner with stakeholders to deliver high‑quality mobile experiences at scale.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in at least one mobile platform iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) with working knowledge of the other
• Experience with cross‑platform approaches in production at meaningful scale
• Experience building or shaping a mobile test automation framework – synthetic, integration, or E2E
• Background in defining quality gating strategy or improving CI/CD pipelines
• Track record of delivering complex, cross-team technical projects
• Ability to drive technical direction with teams you don’t manage
• Technical documentation that becomes a reference for others
• Ability to balance 12‑month horizon with current sprint goals

Responsibilities

• Own mobile development tooling including architecture and roadmap for simulator/emulator setup and device orchestration across iOS and Android
• Lead the test automation framework and evolve it for synthetic and integration testing across platforms
• Set the CI/CD quality gating strategy and surface quality problems before production
• Consolidate fragmented mobile workflows across teams to a cohesive system
• Codify mobile testing standards and publish best practices for Canva and beyond
• Build shared quality signals and triage workflows across development and testing
• Mentor and grow the mobile teams, guiding hiring and performance feedback
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely delivery across projects
