Job summary

Canva is seeking a Staff Mobile Build & Release Architect to own the native build foundation for iOS and Android at scale. You’ll lead Bazel rules, React Native bundling, and a robust monorepo strategy across platforms.

Focus will be on build architecture, release infrastructure, and aligned cross-team tooling. You will mentor engineers and shape standards that outlast individual projects.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on expertise with Bazel, Gradle, or Xcode build systems at production scale.
• Track record delivering complex projects spanning multiple teams.
• Strong native engineering background in iOS/Android, cross-platform tooling experience.

Responsibilities

• Own Bazel build rules, React Native bundling and codegen for mobile at Canva scale.
• Mature mobile release tooling including OTA and staged rollout.
• Lead monorepo migration for mobile repos with build/test/release continuity.
• Define CI/CD quality gates and pipeline structure used by multiple teams.
• Evolve cross-platform foundations to serve web and mobile.
• Collaborate with Mobile Workflows, Cross Platform, Build Platform and DevX.
