Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Sale is seeking a classroom teacher to deliver high-quality education to students with intellectual disability, including dual enrolment options with mainstream schools. You will utilize AAC and evidence-based teaching to support communication, independence and life skills.

Role involves planning and delivering tailored programs, collaborating with families and staff, and contributing to school priorities within the Victorian Curriculum framework.

Qualifications

• SC1: Knowledge of relevant curriculum and ability to teach literacy and numeracy skills.
• SC2: Experience in planning high-impact teaching strategies and assessing growth.
• SC3: Experience in monitoring learning and using data to inform practice.
• SC4: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with families and staff.
• SC5: Behaviours consistent with Department values; commitment to professional learning.
• SC6: Interest in working with students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups and individual students.
• Contribute to curriculum development and program delivery.
• Plan, prepare and implement teaching programs.
• Engage with families and the school community.
• Undertake other duties as required per school needs.
