Job summary

Department of Education Victoria in Leongatha, VIC is seeking a Classroom Teacher to plan, prepare and teach programs for students aged 5–18 with intellectual disability. You will work within the Leongatha Educational Precinct, collaborating to ensure consistent, aligned learning outcomes and high-quality instruction.

The role requires commitment to inclusive education, strong data-informed practice, and demonstrated experience with literacy and numeracy teaching.

Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum and literacy/numeracy integration.
Experience planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies with evidence of learning growth.
Experience monitoring and assessing student learning using data to inform practice.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents and staff.
Commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflecting on practice.
Commitment to special education and understanding intellectual disability implications.
Understanding of whole-school practices and shared responsibility for outcomes.

Responsibilities

Direct teaching of groups and individuals and create engaging lesson plans.
Develop, implement and evaluate curriculum programs aligned to school priorities.
Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
Support school policies and priorities through collaboration and leadership.
Mentor and supervise student teachers and use data to drive targets.
