Job summary

Department of Education Victoria–Wangaratta VIC is seeking a Classroom Teacher (Special Education) to deliver targeted programs for students with intellectual disabilities from ages 5 to 18 and to contribute to school-wide literacy and numeracy outcomes. WDSS aims to provide a supportive learning environment with strong partnerships among families, carers and community.

The role operates within regional campuses, including Benalla, and involves collaboration with staff to meet diverse learner

Qualifications

Knowledge of curriculum and ability to teach literacy and numeracy.
Experience planning high-impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn.
Experience monitoring student learning and using data to inform practice.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Committed to professional learning and reflective practice.

Responsibilities

Direct teaching of groups of students and individuals.
Contribute to development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and programs.
Undertake other classroom and organizational duties as determined by the Principal.
Participate in parent/teacher meetings and school activities.
Engage in supervision duties as required.
