Job summary

Wangaratta District Specialist School in Victoria is seeking an experienced classroom teacher to deliver specialised programs for students aged 5–18 with intellectual and related disabilities. You will plan, prepare and teach targeted lessons, using individual learning plans and collaboration with families.

The role requires planning and monitoring student progress, contributing to school policy, and supporting transitions to post-school pathways.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of curriculum with ability to teach literacy and numeracy.
• Experience planning high-impact teaching strategies and evaluating impact.
• Experience monitoring student learning and using data for feedback.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with families and community.
• Commitment to professional learning and department values.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups and individuals to achieve outcomes.
• Develop, implement and evaluate curriculum programs within the school.
• Undertake related duties and administrative tasks as required.
• Attend parent/teacher meetings and staff meetings; camps and excursions.
• Engage in supervisory duties and mentoring of student teachers.
