Job summary

Indigo People is seeking a Solutions & Commissioning Engineer for Sydney (and Melbourne) to design, program and commission integrated electronic security systems across CCTV, access control and VMS platforms. You will partner with project managers and on-site technicians to deliver robust security solutions.

You will bring 3+ years of commercial security experience, hands-on Integriti and Milestone skills, and a thorough understanding of networking and IT environments.

The Opportunity

We are partnering with an established Australian electronic security integrator that delivers sophisticated, fully integrated security solutions across commercial, industrial and high‑security environments.

They are looking for an experienced Solutions / Commissioning Engineer to join their Sydney or Melbourne team (2x Roles available due to growth).

This is a highly technical role sitting between Project Management, system design, programming, integration and commissioning. You will take project requirements and turn them into fully functioning electronic security solutions, working across CCTV, access control, VMS and networked security systems.

About the Role

You will work closely with Project Managers and on‑site technicians to design, configure, program and commission integrated electronic security systems.

Rather than physically installing equipment yourself, you will be responsible for the technical solution behind the project.

This could involve determining camera positioning and hardware requirements, designing access control and network architecture, programming cameras and NVRs, configuring security platforms, ensuring multiple systems communicate correctly and remotely supporting technicians during installation and commissioning.

You will join an established Solutions Engineering team and report to an experienced Head of Solutions.

Your Responsibilities

• Integrate multiple security products and ensure systems communicate correctly

• Work with Project Managers throughout technical project delivery
• Communicate with client IT teams regarding networks, configuration and infrastructure
• Remotely support and direct on‑site technicians during installation and commissioning
• Test, troubleshoot and resolve technical integration issues
• Complete commissioning, technical documentation and project handovers
• Ensure solutions are technically sound, efficient and fit for purpose

About You

You must have genuine experience within the commercial electronic security industry.

We are particularly interested in people currently working as a:

• Solutions Engineer
• Commissioning Engineer or Technician
• Design Engineer
• Electronic Security Engineer
• Security Systems Engineer
• Security Systems Programmer
• Senior Electronic Security Technician
• Experienced on‑site technician with strong programming and commissioning capability

To be successful, you will ideally bring:

• Minimum approximately 3+ years' experience within commercial electronic security
• Strong hands‑on experience with Inner Range Integriti
• Strong hands‑on experience with Milestone
• Experience programming and commissioning electronic security systems
• Strong understanding of CCTV and access control systems
• Understanding of networking and how electronic security systems operate within IT environments
• full understanding of generic network design and hardware solutions
• Ability to interpret and create technical documentation
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, technicians and client IT teams
• A reliable, structured and commercially aware approach to project delivery
• Experience with Genetec and/or Gallagher will be highly regarded.

This is also an Excellent Opportunity for a Senior Field Technician You do not necessarily need to already hold the title of Solutions Engineer.

If you are an experienced electronic security technician who has spent years working on commercial sites and already performs programming, integration and commissioning, this could be an excellent opportunity to take your knowledge into a predominantly office‑based engineering position.

Your practical understanding of what happens on site can be extremely valuable when designing solutions and supporting technicians remotely.
