Job summary

Talented Personnel is seeking an experienced Security Commissioning Technician to join a growing technical services team. This hands-on, site-based role is responsible for commissioning, testing, fault-finding and handing over electronic security systems across commercial, government and critical infrastructure projects.

You will work with CCTV, electronic access control and integrated security systems, ensuring each installation is configured correctly, fully tested and ready for client

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience commissioning and fault-finding CCTV and electronic access control systems.
• Ability to read drawings, specifications and cause-and-effect documentation.
• Strong written skills for commissioning documentation and handover packs.
• Sound IP networking knowledge including switches, VLANs and IP addressing.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning and configuring CCTV, NVR/VMS and IP-based security systems.
• Configuring and testing electronic access control systems, including controllers, readers and doors.
• Working across Integriti, Gallagher and Genetec platforms.
• Completing device, integration and full functional testing against drawings and client specifications.
• Diagnosing and rectifying hardware, software, configuration and network faults.
• Preparing test sheets, commissioning records, as-built documentation and handover packs.
• Liaising with project managers, installers, clients and consultants throughout the commissioning process.
• Supporting installation technicians with technical guidance and best practices.
• Travelling to project sites as required.

Security Commissioning Technician

We are seeking an experienced Security Commissioning Technician to join a growing technical services team. This is a hands-on, site-based role responsible for commissioning, testing, fault-finding and handing over electronic security systems across commercial, government and critical-infrastructure projects. You will work with CCTV, electronic access control and integrated security systems, ensuring each installation is configured correctly, fully tested and ready for client handover.

What you’ll be doing

• Commissioning and configuring CCTV, NVR/VMS and IP-based security systems
• Configuring and testing electronic access control systems, including controllers, readers, doors, credentials, schedules and reporting
• Working across platforms such as Integriti, Gallagher and Genetec
• Completing device, integration and full functional testing against drawings and client specifications
• Diagnosing and rectifying hardware, software, configuration and network faults
• Working with IP addresses, VLANs, PoE switches and structured cabling to resolve connectivity issues
• Preparing test sheets, commissioning records, as-built documentation and handover packs
• Liaising with project managers, installers, clients and consultants throughout the commissioning process
• Supporting installation technicians with technical guidance and best practice
• Travelling to project sites, including Melbourne’s western suburbs and regional locations as required

About you

You will be a methodical, solutions-focused technician with demonstrated experience commissioning and fault-finding CCTV and electronic access control systems. You are confident working independently on site, communicate well with clients and take pride in delivering quality work.

To be successful, you will have:

• Experience commissioning CCTV systems, cameras, recorders and VMS platforms
• Hands-on experience with at least one of Integriti, Gallagher or Genetec; experience across multiple platforms is highly regarded
• Strong fault-finding skills across security hardware, software and networks
• Sound IP networking knowledge, including switches, VLANs, PoE and IP addressing
• Ability to read drawings, specifications and cause-and-effect documentation
• A current Victorian Security Licence and driver’s licence
• Strong written skills for commissioning documentation and handover packs
• Relevant manufacturer certifications and security clearances will be highly regarded
