Job summary

Mission Australia Housing is seeking a Housing Officer to manage social and affordable housing tenancies and support tenants to maintain stable homes. The role blends tenancy management, property inspections, and administration, with a focus on compliance and service delivery.

You will work with tenants, partners, and internal teams to achieve positive housing outcomes, upholding regulatory and organisational standards while prioritising client-centred support.

Qualifications

• Experience in community or social housing, tenancy management, or related human services.
• Certificate IV in Social Housing is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of tenancy legislation, rent management, and property inspections.
• Ability to build positive relationships with tenants and partners.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong administrative and reporting skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
• Current driver's licence and ability to obtain checks including Police and Working with Children.
• National Police Check and Working with Children Check clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of social and affordable housing tenancies with high-quality tenancy and property management.
• Support tenants to sustain tenancies with guidance on rights and access to support services.
• Monitor rent payments, arrears, tenancy breaches, and income reviews.
• Conduct routine property inspections and prepare condition reports.
• Maintain accurate tenancy and property records and ensure compliance.
• Prepare operational reports on tenancy performance, vacancies, and arrears.
• Build relationships with tenants, partners, and agencies.
• Represent Mission Australia Housing at meetings as required.
