Job summary

High Pressure Jetters is seeking an experienced Small Engine Mechanic to join our Castle Hill workshop immediately. You will diagnose faults, service and repair Honda and Vanguard petrol engines, and carry out repairs without guesswork.

The role requires at least 4 years of relevant mechanical experience, strong diagnostic skills with multimeters, and the ability to see a repair through from diagnosis to completion. Full-time, 40 hours per week with overtime opportunities in a modern workshop.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Small Engine Mechanic, Motorcycle Mechanic, Outdoor Power Equipment Mechanic or similar.
• Strong experience diagnosing and repairing Honda, Vanguard or equivalent commercial petrol engines.
• Excellent mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults across Honda GX390, GX630, GX690, iGX700 and iGX800 engines.
• Vanguard 27HP through to 37HP engines – diagnose fuel, ignition, electrical and mechanical faults.
• Service and repair petrol-powered high-pressure jetting equipment.
• Diagnose faults on pumps, pressure systems and associated components.
• Test equipment to accurately identify faults before carrying out repairs.
• Test and commission equipment following repairs.

Job description

High Pressure Jetters is looking for an experienced Small Engine Mechanic to join our Castle Hill workshop immediately. This is a genuine small engine mechanic position requiring someone highly competent in fault diagnosis, servicing and repair of Honda and Vanguard commercial petrol engines. Fault diagnosis is critical to this role. You will need to confidently diagnose an engine or equipment fault, identify the actual cause and carry out the correct repair without relying on guesswork or simply replacing parts. Our equipment is used commercially by plumbers and drain-cleaning professionals across Australia, so reliability and quality of workmanship are extremely important.

Key responsibilities

Diagnose faults across Honda GX390, GX630, GX690, iGX700 and iGX800 engines. Vanguard 27HP through to 37HP engines those of which are fuel, ignition, electrical and mechanical engine faults

Service and repair petrol-powered high-pressure jetting equipment

Diagnose faults on pumps, pressure systems and associated components

Test equipment to accurately identify faults before carrying out repairs

Test and commission equipment following repairs

About you

Trade qualification as a Small Engine Mechanic, Motorcycle Mechanic, Outdoor Power Equipment Mechanic or similar

At least 4 years' relevant mechanical experience

Strong experience diagnosing and repairing Honda, Vanguard or equivalent commercial petrol engines

Excellent mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability

Experience using proper diagnostic procedures rather than simply replacing parts until a fault disappears

Strong understanding of fuel, ignition, charging and starting systems

Ability to confidently use multimeters and other diagnostic equipment

Ability to work independently and see a repair through from diagnosis to completion

High standard of workmanship and attention to detail

Current Australian driver's licence and Australian permanent residency or appropriate unrestricted working rights

Competitive salary based on experience and capability
