YardWorx Equipment Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Small Engine Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis at our Gympie, Queensland location. In this role, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of small engines used in garden equipment, lawn mowers, chainsaws, and other power tools. This position is essential to our operations, ensuring that our customers receive reliable and well-maintained equipment whilst maintaining our reputation for quality workmanship and customer service.

Key responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical faults and perform routine maintenance on small engines, including oil changes, spark plug replacement, and fuel system cleaning

Repair and rebuild small engines, including engine blocks, carburettors, and ignition systems

Conduct comprehensive testing and quality checks on repaired equipment before returning to customers

Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including parts used and labour hours

Ensure all tools and workshop equipment are kept in good working order

Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised workshop environment

Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair requirements, timelines, and costs

Keep up to date with the latest small engine repair techniques and industry best practices

What we're looking for

A recognised qualification in small engine mechanics or automotive trades, such as a Certificate III or IV in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience

Proven experience working as a small engine mechanic, ideally with 2+ years of hands‑on experience in a workshop environment

Strong knowledge of small engine systems, including two-stroke and four-stroke engines

Proficiency in using mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively

Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving abilities

Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship

The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work

A current and valid driver's licence is preferred

Knowledge of relevant workplace health and safety regulations
