Job summary

Harvey Hire is seeking a full-time Workshop Mechanic to service and maintain our hire fleet and refurbish machines for resale at our Paget, Queensland workshop. You will repair engines, generators and related components while ensuring safe and efficient operation.

You should have proven workshop experience, diagnostic tool skills, and a strong eye for detail, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A valid driver’s license is required; forklift licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Engine servicing and maintenance for hire fleet
• Disassemble and reassemble generators for overhauling/remanufacturing
• Remove and replace engines, water pumps, radiators, compressors and components
• Inspect and diagnose fuel, coolant, air and oil systems
• Complete repairs accurately with high quality workmanship
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace
• Communicate repair timelines and updates with team and management

Harvey Hire is a family-owned market leading specialist in Industrial and Diesel welding machine hire and sales. We have been operating since 2018 with branches in Brisbane and Mackay with our equipment being sent all over Australia.

We are currently seeking a skilled Workshop Mechanic to join our team in Paget, Queensland. If you are passionate about engine maintenance and repair, and possess the required skills, we encourage you to apply.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Full-Time Workshop Mechanic to undertake the responsibility of repairing and maintaining our hire fleet and refurbishment of our machines for resale. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a diverse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engine servicing and maintenance to hire fleet of diesel welders and generators
• Strip down and assembly of generators for overhauling/remanufacturing.
• Removal and replacement of engines, water pumps, radiators, screw compressors, and any other engine componentry.
• Inspection and diagnosis of fuel, coolant, air and oil systems.
• Complete repairs accurately and efficiently, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding repair timelines and updates.

Skills & Requirements:

• Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a workshop setting.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
