Job summary

Itara Jacana Serviced Apartments' Riverway Café is seeking a reliable Short Order Cook to join the busy kitchen team. You will prepare breakfast and lunch items, maintain mise en place, and ensure food safety and quality during service.

You'll work with a Cook, Café Manager and front-of-house team, with regular casual shifts, opportunities for extra hours, and a friendly, community-focused workplace near Riverway Sports & Leisure Precinct in Thuringowa Central.

Qualifications

• Previous cafe or restaurant kitchen experience essential.
• Experience in short order cooking required.
• Experience preparing breakfast and lunch dishes.
• Sound food preparation and cooking skills.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Organised and efficient during busy service periods.
• Reliable and punctual with good teamwork.

Job description

We are looking for another short order cook to work with our current Cook, Café Manager and front-of-house team at busy Riverway Cafe. You'll help keep our kitchen running smoothly while delivering consistently well-prepared breakfast and lunch dishes.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch menu items
• Food preparation and mise en place

About you

• Previous experience in a café, restaurant or commercial kitchen
• Short order cooking experience
• Experience preparing breakfast and lunch dishes
• Sound food preparation and cooking skills
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
• The ability to remain organised and efficient during busy service periods
• High standards of food quality, presentation and kitchen cleanliness
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Reliability and punctuality
• Availability to work weekends as required

Riverway Café is located within the Riverway Sports & Leisure Precinct in Thuringowa Central. We're a busy, community-focused café serving breakfast and lunch seven days a week. We aim to provide a welcoming environment for our customers while maintaining high standards of food quality, service, cleanliness and food safety. Guests from our Itara Jacana Serviced Apartments, located 350 metres away from the Cafe, are also frequent Cafe patrons during their stays.
