Job summary

Itara Jacana Serviced Apartments' Riverway Café is seeking a reliable Short Order Cook to join the busy kitchen team. You will prepare breakfast and lunch items, maintain mise en place, and ensure food safety and quality during service.

You'll work with a Cook, Café Manager and front-of-house team, with regular casual shifts, opportunities for extra hours, and a friendly, community-focused workplace near Riverway Sports & Leisure Precinct in Thuringowa Central.

Qualifications

• Previous cafe or restaurant kitchen experience essential.
• Experience in short order cooking required.
• Experience preparing breakfast and lunch dishes.
• Sound food preparation and cooking skills.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Organised and efficient during busy service periods.
• Reliable and punctual with good teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch menu items
• Food preparation and mise en place
• Maintaining consistent portioning, presentation and food quality
• Monitoring cooking times and food quality during service
• Following food safety, hygiene and temperature-control requirements
• Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen
• Stock rotation and correct food storage
• Assisting with stock levels and deliveries
• Completing kitchen opening and closing procedures
