Job summary

RDO Equipment Co in Melbourne is seeking a Service Manager to lead the Vermeer Service Department and drive service excellence across our workshop and field operations.

You will manage day-to-day operations, mentor a high-performing team, and ensure financial performance aligns with business objectives. This role requires strong leadership, Lean experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer outcomes while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in service management and workshop operations or similar leadership roles.
• Demonstrated commercial and financial management expertise.
• Strong technical and industry understanding.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop teams to achieve shared goals.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S or continuous improvement programs.
• Excellent communication, decision-making and stakeholder management skills.
• Focused on delivering outstanding customer experiences.
• Safety conscious, solutions oriented and growth minded.
• Proactive team player who takes ownership and drives results.
• Comfortable using business systems, reporting tools and computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and financial performance of the Service Department.
• Recruit, develop and retain a high-performing team of Service Technicians.
• Lead by example across the department, assisting with workforce planning, job coordination, team supervision and the achievement of key metric targets.
• Drive workshop presentation, customer engagement and service excellence by maintaining high standards of housekeeping, communication and operational execution.
• Manage warranty costs, workshop assets and departmental budgets inline with company expectations.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Contribute to a culture of safety, innovation and continuous improvement.
