Job summary

RDO Equipment Australia, representing Vermeer, seeks a Mobile Plant Mechanic (Service Technician) in Eastern Creek, NSW. You will diagnose, inspect, maintain and repair heavy diesel equipment, delivering high-quality workmanship in line with manufacturer and company standards.

Ideal applicants hold a recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification, have strong diagnostic, hydraulic and electrical repair skills, and communicate effectively within a workshop team. A current driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, inspect, maintain, and repair heavy diesel equipment and machinery.
• Perform engine overhauls, hydraulic repairs, electrical diagnostics, and general maintenance.
• Complete accurate service documentation, including labour, parts, and consumables used.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment.
• Deliver professional and high-quality workmanship in line with manufacturer and company standards.
• Identify faults and recommend effective repair solutions.
• Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
• Contribute to a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

As a Service Technician, you will:

• Diagnose, inspect, maintain, and repair heavy diesel equipment and machinery

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• A recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with engine overhauls, major component repairs, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diagnostics
• A current and valid driver's licence
• A mature, logical, and methodical approach to troubleshooting and repair work
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a workshop environment
