Job summary

Altus Traffic in Cairns is seeking a hands-on Service Delivery Supervisor who can lead a field-based workforce and ensure safe, professional service delivery. You’ll work closely with field teams, scheduling and the broader Operations team to place the right people and resources where they’re needed.

You don’t need prior traffic management experience; a strong leadership mindset and ability to manage priorities are what we’re after.

Altus Traffic is looking for a capable, practical and people-focused Service Delivery Supervisor to join our Cairns operation.

You don't need to come from the traffic management industry.

We're more interested in how you lead people, organise operations, look after customers and get things done.

This opportunity could suit someone currently working as a Supervisor, Team Leader, Operations Coordinator, Service Coordinator, Depot Supervisor, Leading Hand or Field Supervisor who is ready to take the next step.

Our teams work with road authorities, councils and public and private organisations to deliver more than 2 million hours of traffic management services each year.

Our Cairns operation needs a strong people leader who can help us continue delivering safe, reliable and professional service to our customers.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on operational leadership role.

You’ll work closely with our field teams, customers, scheduling and broader Operations team to make sure the right people and resources are in the right place and our work is delivered safely and professionally.

Importantly, this isn't a desk-only position.

You’ll be visible in the field, engaging with employees and customers, understanding what's happening operationally and helping your team solve problems.

• Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading, supporting and developing a field-based workforce
• Coordinating day-to-day service delivery and operational priorities
• Building strong relationships with customers
• Working with Scheduling to ensure jobs are appropriately resourced
• Maintaining a visible leadership presence across our worksites
• Supporting safety, quality and operational standards
• Managing day-to-day operational issues and finding practical solutions
• Coaching employees and supporting performance and development
• Helping coordinate vehicles, equipment and operational resources
• Supporting incident investigations and follow-up actions
• Monitoring operational performance and service delivery
• Working collaboratively with the broader Cairns and Queensland Operations teams

Who are we looking for?

Someone who enjoys working with people, takes ownership and can bring structure and consistency to a busy operational environment.

You’ll ideally be someone who:

• Has experience supervising or coordinating people
• Is comfortable working with a field-based or blue-collar workforce
• Can organise people, resources and competing priorities
• Builds strong relationships with employees and customers
• Communicates clearly and confidently
• Can have constructive and sometimes difficult conversations
• Remains calm when priorities change
• Takes ownership and follows things through
• Has a strong safety and quality mindset
• Is comfortable using computers and operational systems
• Enjoys getting out into the field rather than managing solely from behind a desk

Your experience could come from anywhere

You might currently work in civil construction, utilities, transport, logistics, equipment hire, labour hire, telecommunications, security, facilities management, waste services, field maintenance or another operational service industry.

You may already be a Supervisor, or you might be a strong Team Leader, Coordinator or Leading Hand looking for an opportunity to step into broader operational leadership.

Traffic management experience is not required.

If you bring the right leadership capability, operational mindset and willingness to learn, we’ll help you understand our industry, systems and operational requirements.
