Job summary

Optus is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist, VAS, to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the Optus Network from the Network Operations Centre. You will lead incident resolution, provide technical governance with managed service providers, and act as a primary escalation point in a 24x7 rostered team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of VAS platforms (SMSC, MMSC, Voicemail, IVR) and their GSM integration.
• Unix/Linux OS and telecom signaling protocols (SS7, Diameter, SIGTRAN).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Solid understanding of service operations, fault management, and incident leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead resolution of complex or high-severity network faults, especially when not resolvable by the Managed Service Provider.
• Provide technical oversight during major incidents to ensure timely restoration of service.
• Manage escalations from Service Assurance Managers with clear communication.
• Conduct end-to-end Problem Management including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Protect revenue and customer experience through proactive fault reduction across the Transport network.
