Job summary

Optus Enterprise is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist, T2 RAN Ops, to ensure optimal performance and availability of the Optus RAN Network. You will provide hands-on operational support and govern suppliers across Incident, Change, and Problem Management, while supporting Satellite Site backhaul and Hetnet integrations.

You’ll collaborate with managed service providers, vendors and internal engineering teams to implement network strategies and improve operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Mobile/Mobile‑Satellite, with VSAT, IP and cellular backhaul expertise.
• Advanced understanding of VSAT, RF, IP and 3G/4G systems.
• Strong problem-solving and investigative abilities.
• Excellent end-to-end troubleshooting across subsystems for backhaul services.
• Experience with protocol-level testing and troubleshooting.
• Cybersecurity skills and operational experience.
• Vendor and customer management experience; ITIL compliant.

Responsibilities

• Execute technical operational processes and provide support to maintain network availability.
• Respond to incidents escalated by Managed Services and assist resolutions.
• Contribute to root cause analysis for Problem Management.
• Manage escalations from Service Assurance during critical incidents.
• Assist planning and execution of network changes, expansions, upgrades.
• Recommend improvements to network design for performance and reliability.
• Ensure planned changes meet Optus’ quality policies.
• Support continuous improvement with Engineering, Vendors and Managed Services.
• Contribute to tools strategy and automation initiatives.
• Participate in alarm filtering and service assurance analytics.
• Provide input to KPI and SLA reporting; share knowledge with the team.

As the Senior Technical Specialist, T2 RAN Ops, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance and availability of the Optus RAN Network to maintain a high standard of customer experience. You’ll provide hands‑on technical operational support and contribute to the technical governance of suppliers across Incident, Change, and Problem Management. You’ll also play a critical role in supporting the Radio Access portion of the Satellite Site network (delivered via VSAT geostationary backhaul and aggregated in a Hetnet Gateway co-located with VSAT equipment). Working initially during business hours (subject to change as the network evolves), you’ll collaborate closely with managed service providers, vendors, and internal engineering teams to implement network strategies and enhance operational effectiveness.

What You’ll Do

• Execute technical operational processes and provide technical support to maintain network availability.
• Respond to and assist in resolving incidents escalated by Managed Services where issues are not immediately resolvable.
• Support Problem Management by contributing to root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.
• Manage and respond to escalations from Service Assurance Managers on critical incidents under guidance.
• Assist with planning and execution of network changes, expansions, and upgrades.
• Recommend improvements to network design to enhance performance and reliability.
• Ensure all planned changes meet Optus’ quality and performance policies.
• Support continuous improvement activities alongside Engineering, Vendors, and Managed Services.
• Contribute to tools strategy and automation initiatives by providing operational insights.
• Participate in alarm filtering, correlation analysis, and service assurance automation efforts.
• Provide operational input into weekly/monthly KPI and SLA reporting processes.
• Act as a point of knowledge for peers and contribute to team knowledge sharing and training initiatives.

What You Bring

• A relevant degree in Engineering (Communications, Electrical or similar) or Diploma with extensive related work experience.
• 10+ years in the Mobile/Mobile‑Satellite industry, with particular expertise in VSAT, IP, RF and cellular backhaul.
• Advanced technical understanding of VSAT, RF, IP and 3G/4G cellular systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to investigate and expedite effectively.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across various subsystems to deliver and assure end‑to‑end VSAT and Mobile backhaul services.
• Experience with protocol‑level application testing and troubleshooting.
• Cybersecurity skills and operational experience.
• Vendor and Customer management and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• ITIL framework compliance and adherence experience.
