Job summary

Qantas Airways Limited is hiring a Senior Full Stack Developer for our new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. You will guide architecture, delivery and development of scalable systems powering digital experiences, while writing high‑quality code and ensuring security and performance.

You’ll bring 6+ years in software engineering, strong backend with Node.js/Java, frontend with React/Next.js, and cloud‑native AWS expertise.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a hands‑on Software Engineering role.
• Strong experience building high‑traffic customer facing web applications across frontend and backend.
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc).
• Backend experience with Node.js and Java using Spring/Spring Boot to build scalable APIs.
• Knowledge of React.js and Next.js for modern user experiences.
• Cloud‑native development on AWS with deployment and scaling considerations.
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), Git, and automated testing practices.
• Observability/monitoring tools (Splunk, Datadog, etc) for production systems.
• A passion for quality, clean code and continuous improvement.
• Understanding of architectural concepts and cloud‑based solution design.
• Accountability, mentoring, and ability to influence across teams.
• Test and learn mindset with collaboration and care.
• Experience with multi‑threaded/asynchronous code.
• Adobe Experience Manager / Edge Delivery Services desirable.

As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you’ll be responsible for guiding and leading the architecture, delivery and development of the software systems that power our business unit. A hands‑on, highly skilled software developer with the experience to dive into code to deliver high quality, well‑designed software. You will share responsibility for the quality of the software being built, including but not limited to; achieving desired business outcomes, meeting reliability and performance expectations and safely managing security and data privacy concerns.

You’ll have:

• 6+ years’ in a hands‑on Software Engineering role
• Strong experience building high‑traffic customer facing web applications across frontend and backend
• Experience working with databases (e.g , PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc)
• Proven backend experience using Node JS and Java with modern frameworks (e.g. Spring / Spring Boot) to build scalable APIs and services
• Working knowledge of React.js, Next.js (including server‑side rendering and modern rendering patterns) and modern frontend patterns to support and evolve user experiences
• Solid understanding of cloud‑native development on platforms such as AWS, including deployment, scaling, and operational considerations
• Experience and confidence with CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions), version control (Git), and automated testing practices
• Experience using observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk, Datadog, or similar) to support production systems
• A real passion for quality, clean code and continuous improvement
• A strong understanding of architectural concepts and cloud‑based solution design
• Highly dedicated ethos - expected to take very real accountability for the work you’re doing
• Demonstrable ability to motivate self and others, and a passion to mentor junior developers
• Experience working with technical and non-technical partners, with the capability to influence
• A test and learn mindset with curiosity, collaboration and care
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Experience with Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Edge Delivery Services desirable
