Job summary

Qantas is looking for a skilled Full Stack Developer to join our brand-new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. You will guide the architecture, delivery and development of robust, scalable software powering seamless digital experiences.

This hands-on mid-level role requires experience across frontend and backend, with Java/Spring Boot, React, AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD and a strong focus on quality and security.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in hands-on software engineering.
• Experience building high-traffic web apps frontend and backend.
• Backend with Java and Spring/Spring Boot for scalable APIs.
• Frontend tech: JavaScript, React, SSR, HTML/CSS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Cloud-native development on AWS: deployment, scaling, operations.
• Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions, Git, and automated testing.
• Observability tools like Splunk or Datadog.
• Passion for clean code and continuous improvement.

As aFull Stack Developer, you’ll be responsible for guiding and leading the architecture, delivery and development of the software systems that power our business unit. A hands-on, skilled, mid-level software engineer with the experience to dive into code to deliver high quality, well-designed software. You will share responsibility for the quality of the software being built, including but not limited to; achieving desired business outcomes, meeting reliability and performance expectations and safely managing security and data privacy concerns.

You’llhave:

• 3+yearsin a hands-on Software Engineering role
• Experience building high‑traffic customer facing web applications across frontend and backend
• Proven backend experience using Java with modern frameworks (e.g. Spring / Spring Boot) to build scalable APIs and services
• Working experience with both front-end technologies (i.e JavaScript, React JS, SSR, Micro Front Ends, HTML, CSS, CSS Modules, etc)
• Experience with databases (e.g , PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc)
• Understanding of cloud‑native development on platforms such as AWS, including deployment, scaling, and operational considerations
• Containerisation technology concepts, such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions), version control (Git), and automated testing practices
• Experience using observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk, Datadog, or similar) to support production systems
• A real passion for quality, cleancodeand continuous improvement
• An understanding of architectural concepts and cloud-based solution design
• Highly dedicated ethos - expected to take very real accountability for the workyou'redoing
• A test and learn mindset with curiosity,collaborationand care
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Experience with Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Edge Delivery Services desirable
