Job summary

Qantas Airways, based at our new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide, seeks a Senior Full Stack Developer to guide architecture, delivery and development of the software powering our digital experiences. You will be hands-on, mentor juniors and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure fast, secure, and reliable services that meet evolving customer expectations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in hands-on software engineering.
• Experience building high-traffic customer-facing web apps (frontend and backend).
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript across UI and backend.
• Backend experience with Node.js and Java with Spring/Spring Boot to build scalable APIs.
• Experience with React.js and Next.js (SSR) and modern frontend patterns.

As aSenior Full Stack Developer,you’llbe responsible forguiding and leading the architecture, delivery and development of the software systems that power our business unit.Ahands-on, highly skilled software developer with the experience todive into codeto deliver high quality, well-designed software.You willshareresponsibilityfor the quality of the software being built, including but not limitedto;achieving desired business outcomes, meeting reliability and performance expectations and safely managing security and data privacy concerns.

You’llhave:

• 6+years’in a hands-on Software Engineering role
• Strong experience building high‑traffic customer facing web applications across frontend and backend
• Experience working with databases (e.g , PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc)
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript, with experience applying these skills across both UI representation and platform‑driven, rule‑based implementations
• Proven backend experience using Node JS and Java with modern frameworks (e.g. Spring / Spring Boot) to build scalable APIs and services
• Working knowledge of React.js, Next.js (including server-side rendering and modern rendering patterns) and modern frontend patterns to support and evolve user experiences
• Solid understanding of cloud‑native development on platforms such as AWS, including deployment, scaling, and operational considerations
• Experience and confidence with CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions), version control (Git), and automated testing practices
• Experience using observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk, Datadog, or similar) to support production systems
• A real passion for quality, cleancodeand continuous improvement
• A strong understanding of architectural concepts and cloud-based solution design
• Highly dedicated ethos - expected to take very real accountability for the workyou’redoing
• Demonstrable ability to motivate self and others, and a passion to mentor junior developers
• Experience working with technical and non-technical partners, with the capability to influence
• A test and learn mindset with curiosity,collaborationand care
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Experience with Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Edge Delivery Services desirable
