Job summary

Qantas is seeking a hands-on Full Stack Developer to guide architecture, delivery and development of scalable software at the new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. You will work across frontend and backend to deliver robust digital experiences, ensuring fast, secure, and reliable services that meet evolving customer expectations.

You will apply 3+ years of software engineering experience with Java/Spring and cloud-native AWS, plus Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD and observability to build

Qualifications

• 3+ years in hands-on Software Engineering.
• Experience building high-traffic customer facing web applications across frontend and backend.
• Proven backend experience using Java with modern frameworks (Spring / Spring Boot) to build scalable APIs and services.
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Understanding of cloud-native development on platforms such as AWS, including deployment, scaling, and operational considerations.
• Containerisation technology concepts, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions), version control (Git), and automated testing practices.
• Experience using observability and monitoring tools (Splunk, Datadog, or similar) to support production systems.
• A real passion for quality, clean code and continuous improvement.
• An understanding of architectural concepts and cloud-based solution design.
• Highly dedicated ethos - expected to take very real accountability for the work you're doing.
• A test and learn mindset with curiosity, collaboration and care.
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code.
• Experience with Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Edge Delivery Services desirable.

As a Full Stack Developer, you’ll be responsible for guiding and leading the architecture, delivery and development of the software systems that power our business unit. A hands‑on, skilled, mid-level software engineer with the experience to dive into code to deliver high quality, well-designed software. You will share responsibility for the quality of the software being built, including but not limited to; achieving desired business outcomes, meeting reliability and performance expectations and safely managing security and data privacy concerns.

You’ll Have

• 3+ years in a hands‑on Software Engineering role
