Job summary

Aboriginal Land Council NSW – Griffith NSW is seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer to guide Local Aboriginal Land Councils across the Zone in governance, land activation and capacity building. Reporting to the Operations Manager/Zone Director, you will drive strategic initiatives and ensure NSWALC policies and legislation are implemented effectively.

Qualifications

• Aboriginality (identified position).
• Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience in project, program or community management.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Advanced project management and financial literacy skills.
• Experience interpreting and implementing legislation, policy and governance frameworks.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and facilitation skills.
• Strong analytical, research and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• A current NSW Driver Licence and capacity to travel extensively throughout the Region.

Responsibilities

• Supporting LALCs to operate effectively and in compliance with the Aboriginal Land Rights Act and NSWALC policies.
• Assessing Community Land and Business Plans and providing specialist advice and guidance.
• Assessing Community Benefit Schemes, including residential accommodation proposals.
• Identifying and supporting land development, business and economic development opportunities.
• Supporting cultural, social and heritage initiatives across the Zone.
• Delivering governance and capability-building training to LALCs.
• Providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to Project Officers and other team members.
• Managing stakeholder relationships and representing NSWALC at meetings and forums.
• Providing high-quality advice to management and internal stakeholders on complex matters.
