Job summary

New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is seeking motivated Project Officers to support Local Aboriginal Land Councils across the Zone. You will advise on governance, compliance and operations, assist with land and business plan assessments, and help deliver training and capacity-building initiatives.

The role focuses on enabling sustainable Aboriginal communities through collaboration, reports, and field-based support, with travel across NSW and a strong emphasis on stakeholder

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Aboriginal communities, culture, values and contemporary issues.
• Experience in community development, project administration, governance or compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience building positive stakeholder relationships.
• Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and practical support on governance, compliance and operational matters.
• Assist with Community Land and Business Plan assessments and implementation activities.
• Support the delivery of training programs, workshops and capacity-building initiatives.
• Assist in identifying economic development, land activation and community opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with LALC Boards, members, staff and community stakeholders.
• Prepare reports, research and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
• Travel throughout the Zone to provide on-the-ground support to LALCs.
• Work collaboratively with NSWALC teams to achieve positive outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
