Job summary

HorizonOne Recruitment Pty is partnering with a Commonwealth organisation to appoint a Team Leader for the People Helpdesk in Canberra. You will lead the day-to-day HR and payroll support for a national workforce, ensuring timely, accurate service and strong governance across Aurion and related processes.

This hands-on leadership role combines coaching, escalation management and continuous improvement of SOPs and knowledge articles, with opportunities to influence how HR and payroll services are

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team in a complex HR/payroll environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll, HR processes and legislation.
• Experience with APS or Commonwealth Government is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Aurion or similar HRMIS.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritise and allocate team work to ensure timely ticket resolution.
• Deliver Tier One HR and payroll support and act as escalation point.
• Oversee payroll processing, validations and data integrity in Aurion.
• Coach team members and provide regular updates to leadership.
• Develop SOPs and KBAs; support rollout of new payroll processes.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and records for audits.
