Job summary

Balmain Public House in Sydney is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to spearhead people, culture, daily operations and commercial performance. You will set expectations, lead by example and partner with the management team to deliver consistent standards.

This brand-new venue will rely on your coaching of managers, building confidence and capability, and creating an environment where staff are accountable, supported and offered growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience running a pub, hotel or similar venue as a Senior Operations Manager or ready for next step.
• Solid food and beverage know-how with a strong guest experience focus.
• Hands-on, visible leadership on the floor with the team.
• Track record of developing managers and building capable teams.
• Excellent communication and people skills to bring others along.
• History of lifting venue performance and spotting growth opportunities.
• Experience building functions, events or other revenue streams.
• Comfort with P&Ls, margins and labour control.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support your venue management team to achieve their best.
• Grow future leaders from within and build a durable bench.
• Set and uphold a culture of accountability and high standards.
• Oversee rostering, hiring, retention and succession planning.
• Maintain service standards and smooth operations across all shifts.
• Maintain food, drink and venue presentation at a high level.
• Own venue performance including revenue, costs and profit.
• Identify opportunities to grow and act on them.
• Drive events and functions to fill venue spaces.
• Be a visible Balmain ambassador in the surrounding suburbs.
