Job description

Perseus Mining is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to support corporate-level mining engineering, strategic planning, and technical review activities across its operating sites and development projects.

Based in our Perth office as part of the corporate Technical Services and Studies team, you will work across multiple assets and studies, contributing to Life of Mine planning, Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve processes, and strategic evaluations across the Perseus portfolio, including support to the Nyanzaga Gold Project.

• Deliver pit optimisations, mine designs, and schedules to support LOM, budget, and strategic planning cycles.
• Provide mining engineering input to MROR updates, feasibility studies, and technical reviews.
• Undertake economic evaluations and business justifications for mining and infrastructure options.
• Support operational readiness activities and provide peer review to operating sites and projects.
• Contribute to the documentation, review, and governance of mine planning outputs, while mentoring site-based teams as required.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage competing priorities across a diverse portfolio.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or similar).
• A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in open pit mining engineering roles.
• Strong experience in pit optimisation, mine design, and scheduling.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software (e.g. Whittle, Deswik, Surpac, MineSight or similar).
• Sound knowledge of JORC and NI 43-101 reporting requirements.
• Experience contributing to LOM plans, MROR processes, and technical studies.
• The ability to work autonomously while engaging effectively with stakeholders across corporate and site teams.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

It would be beneficial if you have:

• Previous consulting experience or exposure to multiple assets and studies environments.
• Experience in underground mining engineering and mine planning.
• Experience in gold mining operations or projects.
• Postgraduate qualifications or mine manager certification.
• Experience mentoring or coaching mine planning teams.
• Exposure to African mining operations or culturally diverse work environments.

Where you’ll be working

This position is based in Perseus’s Subiaco office, with a corporate team of roughly 60 employees and growing. You’ll join a small corporate team, allowing for close interactions across all departments and levels of the business.
