Canberra Eye Surgeons in Deakin, ACT is seeking a Senior Medical Receptionist to lead the front desk in a busy ophthalmology practice. You will greet patients, manage appointments, registrations and billing while mentoring junior staff and supporting the practice's administrative functions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in medical reception/administration
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
• Proficient in medical practice management software and EHR systems
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• High accuracy in record-keeping and data entry
• Knowledge of patient confidentiality and privacy legislation (Australian standards)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Professional telephone manner
• Understanding of ophthalmology terminology (desirable) and willingness to learn

Responsabilités

• Greet patients and direct them courteously
• Schedule and confirm appointments to optimise clinic flow
• Process registrations and collect medical history information
• Manage patient records (electronic and paper) per privacy protocols
• Handle telephone inquiries and messages
• Process payments and billing enquiries
• Coordinate with hospitals, GPs, optometrists and specialists
• Maintain a clean and welcoming reception area
• Support the practice manager with admin tasks
• Assist with referrals and specialist correspondence as needed
