Job summary

The Partnership Group seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in design and delivery for its Sydney on-site team. You will articulate mechanical solutions in meetings with builders, consultants and clients, then help deliver them both commercially for the contractor and technically for the client.

Ideal candidates have progressively responsible roles in mechanical contracting and are comfortable leading client-facing discussions on site.

Qualifications

• Roughly 10–18 years in mechanical services.
• Currently a senior or design engineer at a mechanical contractor.
• Delivery-focused role with client facing responsibilities; not a drafting seat or pure consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Present and articulate mechanical solutions to builders, consultants and clients in meetings.
• Deliver the solution commercially for the contractor and technically for the client.
• Lead design discussions and work collaboratively with the construction team.

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Design and Delivery

A national HVAC and mechanical services contractor has won a run of hospital and commercial work that will keep its Sydney construction division busy for the next three to five years. They are hiring ahead of the pipeline, not backfilling.

This is a senior engineer who sits in design meetings and holds their own. You would articulate the mechanical solution to the builder, the consultant and the client in the room, then help deliver it, commercially for the contractor and technically for the client. It is not a drafting seat and it is not pure consultancy.

$160,000 to $180,000 plus super

The seat

• Sydney, permanent, on site. Reports to the Design Manager inside the construction division.
• $160,000 to $180,000 base plus super, depending on experience. They have said they will pay above market for the right person.

Who it suits

• Roughly ten to eighteen years in mechanical services, currently a senior or design engineer at a mechanical contractor.
• Contractor side delivery on commercial projects is essential. Consultancy only backgrounds have not landed.
• Comfortable in front of a client. Not yet chasing a Design Manager title.
