Job summary

Bechtel in Weipa, QLD is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to provide project field engineering specialization, work planning, material management, quantity verification, safety and quality control, and subcontract coordination on a greenfield mining and port support project.

You will lead field engineering teams, ensure work packaging aligns with project requirements, and apply marine infrastructure expertise across EPCM environments, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Expertise in marine construction methodologies.
• Knowledge of port/terminal infrastructure.
• Pile installation systems knowledge.
• Concrete and structural steel construction experience.
• Heavy marine lifting operations know-how.
• Dredging and reclamation works familiarity.
• Temporary works engineering understanding.
• Coastal/marine asset construction familiarity.
• Quality management systems knowledge.
• Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) familiarity.
• Marine environmental compliance awareness.
• Construction planning and workface planning know-how.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction drawings and sketches.
• Facilitate planning of construction methods and procedures.
• Initiate field purchase requisitions.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs of field material and equipment.
• Verify commodities in quantity tracking systems.
• Ensure zero-accident safety philosophy and safe operation of tools and equipment.
• Pursue continuous learning and relevant training.
• Develop understanding of system scoping and drawings required for package turnover.
• Review and approve inspection test plans; coordinate subcontractor submittals.
