Job Summary

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will plan, develop and review design work for both in‑house and external design providers. You will own the project’s technical scope in your area across all design disciplines, coordinate production of technical drawings, calculations, specifications and material take‑offs, and ensure compliance with regulations and standards. The role focuses on the Non‑Process Infrastructure (NPI) technical scope within the larger project.

Major Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct independent scope of work and technical specifications for NPI design and field investigations on large projects.
• Lead the design, development, modification and evaluation of multi‑discipline NPI scope components and processes using EDPs, BECS standards and BSAPs.
• Review and approve key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders and bid summaries for the assigned project.
• Control and monitor technical scope, identify scope changes and participate in the project’s change management processes.
• Coordinate and manage external consultant work scopes, progress and performance.
• Develop conceptual designs for NPI scope areas including Civil/Structural, Architectural, Mechanical/Hydraulic and Electrical engineering projects.
• Interview client personnel to determine their needs, develop scope for cost estimates for services and participate in proposal preparation and presentation.
• Prepare or supervise discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, supporting implementation and performance reporting.
• Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria and performance data.
• Author multi‑discipline Service Requisitions, participate in the bid‑evaluate‑award cycle and prepare/review Technical Bid Evaluations.

Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) and 13–15 years of relevant experience, or 17–19 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Leading multi‑discipline engineering design teams within the minerals processing industry for EPC or EPCM projects.
• Experience with minerals handling plant design, including slurry pumping, conveyor, chute, tank sizing and selection calculations.
• Experience with civil non‑process infrastructure engineering design for site roads, pads, occupied and non‑occupied buildings, water and tailings storage facilities.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical non‑process infrastructure engineering for utilities reticulation and high‑voltage service.
• Experience with Bid‑Evaluate‑Award processes for interfacing design and construct or construct‑only Service Requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
• Proficiency in MS Office and common engineering software.
• Flexibility, enthusiasm and proven teamwork in a dynamic multi‑discipline environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Clear oral and written communication skills.
