Job summary

Nepean is seeking a Senior Service Engineer – Longwall for our Mackay workshop. This is a hybrid, workshop-based role with minimal travel, focusing on longwall equipment and systems in Australia’s underground coal sector.

The successful candidate will bring at least 5 years of direct longwall experience, mechanical trade qualifications, and a strong ability to troubleshoot complex equipment while mentoring workshop staff.

Qualifications

Mechanical Trade Qualification required.
Minimum 5 years direct experience on longwall equipment.
Extensive knowledge of underground longwall mining operations.
Strong understanding of AFCs, BSLs, crushers, shields, shearers, hydraulics, gearboxes.

Responsibilities

Conduct inspections, assessments and failure investigations of longwall equipment.
Lead overhaul, repair and rebuild activities.
Provide specialist technical advice and troubleshooting support.
Analyse equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Support engineering teams with product development and reliability initiatives.
Prepare technical reports and recommendations.
Mentor and support workshop personnel through sharing of technical expertise.
Assist customers with maintenance strategies and equipment performance solutions.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and to the highest quality standards.
