Job summary

Walgett Shire Council is seeking an experienced Senior ICT Officer to manage the day-to-day operation of Council’s technology environment and act as the principal internal ICT contact. You’ll work with staff and Councillors, coordinating with the MSP to ensure issues are tracked, escalated and resolved across a large Shire.

You will handle Microsoft 365, user access, devices, telecoms, licenses and asset registers, plus AV support for hybrid meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience providing ICT support and administration across Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 services, including Entra ID, Intune, Teams and SharePoint.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
• Experience working with external ICT providers, including managing service requests and incidents.
• Experience managing ICT assets, software licences and telecommunications services.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data protection and information management.
• Clear and helpful customer service and communication skills.
• Experience providing audio-visual support for meetings, including hybrid events.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to service improvement.
• A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Information Technology or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day ICT support and services for Council staff across the Shire.
• Work with the MSP to keep systems reliable, secure and responsive.
• Provide practical ICT support to staff and Councillors and manage assets and licenses.
• Support audio-visual needs for meetings and community events, including hybrid meetings.
• Monitor MSP performance and advise on ICT risks and improvements.
