Job summary

Macmahon is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to provide expert mine planning and design for open-cut operations. You will ensure practical, executable production plans and collaborate with operations, maintenance and HSEQT to support continuous improvement and plan compliance.

Ideal candidates have 4–5 years of hands-on hard rock surface mining experience and strong analytical, planning and stakeholder engagement skills, with a roster of 7:7 and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of practical experience in hard rock surface mining is preferred.
• Experience in mine planning, design, scheduling and operational support in a mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mine planning, design, scheduling and drill-and-blast activities to support safe production outcomes.
• Provide technical engineering analysis and commercial support to optimise mining performance and decision-making.
• Maintain production reporting systems and contribute to budget, forecast and progress claim development.
• Engage with operations and project teams to drive plan compliance and achieve business objectives.
• Identify and drive improvement opportunities and contribute to engineering best practice with a safety focus.

About the Role

Provide Senior Mining Engineering expertise to safely deliver mine plans, ensuring production plans are practicable and executable for the mining operation. This role will work closely with operations, maintenance and HSEQT to provide technical support, drive plan compliance, optimise mining activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

• Tertiary Degree in Mining Engineering, or equivalent, with 4 to 5 years of practical experience & previous exposure to hard rock surface mining projects highly regarded
• Demonstrated experience in mine planning, design, scheduling and operational support within a mining environment.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, influence stakeholders and support effective decision-making.
• Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
