Job summary

Main Beach Superyacht Marina on the Gold Coast is seeking a Senior Dockhand / Duty Manager to lead daily dock operations and ensure premium service for vessels from 11m to 73m.

You will work closely with the General Manager, be highly visible on the docks, coordinate tasks, supervise dockhands and address operational issues to maintain the marina’s high standards.

Qualifications

• Previous marina, marine, boating or dockhand experience.
• Experience with larger vessels highly regarded.
• Good practical boat-handling and line-handling skills.
• Confident communication with vessel owners, captains and crew.
• Experience working as part of a small team.
• Ability to take responsibility and get things done.
• A calm and practical approach to solving problems.
• Strong attention to detail and work ethic.
• Professional and well-presented manner.
• Marine qualifications such as Coxswain's Certificate are highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Be actively involved in daily dock operations.
• Assist with vessel arrivals, departures, berthing and line handling.
• Provide hands-on support to vessel owners, captains and crew.
• Work alongside and provide day-to-day direction to dockhands.
• Allocate daily tasks and ensure they are completed to a high standard.
• Assist with marina services including water, power, fuel and pump-out.
• Operate marina equipment, vehicles and tenders where required.
• Conduct daily checks of pontoons, gangways, facilities and marina equipment.
• Identify and report maintenance, safety and operational issues.
• Assist with keeping the marina clean, organised and professionally presented.
• Assist customers with day-to-day requests and requirements.
• Follow and reinforce marina safety procedures and SOPs.
• Assist with emergency response and incident management.
• Assist the General Manager with the smooth running of daily operations.

Main Beach Superyacht Marina is a premium new marina on the Gold Coast, providing berthing and services for vessels from approximately 11m through 73m

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Dockhand / Duty Manager to join our team and play an important role in the daily operation of the marina.

The successful applicant will be highly visible on the docks and actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the marina, working alongside our dockhand team and providing practical leadership when required.

The Role:

Working closely with the General Manager, you will help ensure the marina operates safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

Your day will involve being on the dock, assisting customers and vessels, coordinating daily tasks and making sure the marina is presented at the standard expected of a premium superyacht facility.

We are looking for someone who leads by example and is not afraid to get their hands dirty.

You will ideally have:

• Previous marina, marine, boating or dockhand experience.
• Experience working with larger vessels will be highly regarded.

• Experience working as part of a small team.

• Marine qualifications such as a Coxswain's Certificate will be highly regarded, as will experience in superyacht, marina, luxury hospitality or similar environments.

The successful applicant will be expected to identify issues, take care of day-to-day matters within their responsibility and elevate significant issues to the General Manager when required.

Working Hours:

Full-time position based on a five-day working week.

• One weekend day each week
• Some public holiday work
• Flexibility around vessel movements, events and busy operational periods
