Job summary

Seeking a seasoned Captain to take full command of a ~30m superyacht based in Airlie Beach, QLD, with additional vessels in the fleet. The role offers year‑round stability and an opportunity to apply top‑level management and safety standards in a premier boating environment.

You will drive charters, supervise crew, manage maintenance, and ensure exceptional guest experiences while upholding the highest safety practices. A NSW General Boat License and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
• NSW General Boat License (or equivalent) required.
• Extensive command experience on large leisure motor yachts (40–80 ft) with strong close‑quarters handling skills.

Responsibilities

Seeking a long-term role in the marine industry? This is a rare opportunity for a professional and experienced Captain to take full command of our approx 30m Superyacht as well as supplementary vessels in the fleet (smaller boats -12m, jet ski's etc).

Based in Airlie Beach QLD, this position offers the year-round stability that seasonal or contract work cannot. It allows you to focus on operational excellence without the challenges of split logistics or income instability between seasons. This position does have some basic requirements, such as:

• Driving & navigating the vessel for charters
• Overseeing all mechanical and electrical systems
• Conducting daily pre-starts, shutdowns, and handovers
• Ensuring vessel presentation and general maintenance
• Leading the marine crew and upholding the highest safety standards
• Protecting the safety and well-being of all passengers and staff onboard
• Execute flawless close-quarters manoeuvring, berthing, and anchoring
• Manage all voyage planning, including meteorological checks, pre-departure protocols, and meticulous logbook entries
• Curate exceptional guest experiences, handling everything from provisioning and safety briefings to five-star service

• Maintain yachts in immaculate, "turn-key" condition, ready for departure at a moment's notice.
• Implement a rigorous schedule for wash-downs, stainless steel/teak care, and interior detailing
• Ensure vessels are consistently fuelled, watered, and provisioned, with all safety equipment certified and correctly stowed

• Conduct hands‑on preventative maintenance, including fluid/filter checks, monitoring of bilge and battery systems, and care for all fittings
• Schedule, oversee, and coordinate all specialist contractors (mechanical, electrical, etc.) within a seamless planned maintenance program
• Manage the parts inventory, maintain a comprehensive service history and arrange haul-outs

Required Qualifications

• NSW General Boat License (or equivalent)
• Extensive, demonstrated command experience on large leisure motor yachts (40–80 ft) with exceptional close-quarters handling skills (Ferretti experience preferred)
• Strong practical mechanical aptitude and a deep, intuitive understanding of modern vessel systems
• Proven organisational and management skills, with experience coordinating contractors and budgets
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required, with time off arranged mid-week
• Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain immediately)
