Job summary

Sailing in Paradise on the Gold Coast is seeking an experienced, confident Skipper to lead our Seawind catamarans ahead of the busy Summer season.

You will skipper vessels, ensure guest safety, and share local knowledge of Broadwater. The role requires 1-2 years commercial skippering, a strong safety mindset, and weekend availability; Master V encouraged and RSA/First Aid desirable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-2 years of commercial skippering experience.
• Knowledge of local waterways advantageous (Gold Coast Broadwater & surrounds).
• Safety-focused with strong vessel handling skills.
• Flexible and committed to weekend availability.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Seawind sailing catamarans.
• Take responsibility for vessel, crew, and guest safety during each charter.
• Deliver an exceptional onboard experience with energy, calmness, and professionalism.
• Communicate clearly with guests, crew, and management.
• Assist with setup, pack down, basic cleaning, and vessel presentation.
• Support water-based activities at island stops (SUPs, floats, beach games).
• Carry out minor maintenance and take initiative where needed.
• Complete vessel logs and required paperwork accurately.
• Lead or assist with crew training when required.
• Contribute to our positive, team-first culture—no egos here!

About the Role

We're searching for an experienced, confident, and guest-focused Skipper to join our team ahead of the busy Summer season with solid potential for long-term employment

You’ll be responsible for skippering our catamarans, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of every guest and crew member on board. Local knowledge of the Broadwater and good mid-week/weekend availability is essential.

Who We're Looking For

Someone who is confident behind the helm, comfortable managing charters of all kinds (from high energy parties to polished corporate groups), and who brings a friendly, down-to-earth approach.

Candidates must have appropriate Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.

You are:

• An experienced commercial skipper with Coxswain NC1 or Master V

• Minimum 1-2 years of commercial skippering experience required

• Knowledge of local waterways advantageous (Gold Coast Broadwater & surrounds)

• Safety-focused with strong vessel handling skills

• Comfortable working in a team of two (Skipper + GPH)

• Fit, energetic, and happy to pitch in with all tasks

• A people person who loves guest interaction

• Digitally savvy (rostering apps, communication tools, online logs)

• Flexible and committed to weekend availability

• Looking for a role you’ll stick with for 12+ months

Highly regarded:

• MED qualifications or strong mechanical aptitude

• Crew leadership/training experience

• Sailing experience (preferred, not essential)

• Current RSA & First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
