Job summary

REA Group seeks a Senior Data Engineer (Data Business Partner) in Melbourne to uplift our data capability and shape an AI-ready data foundation. The role is part of the Data Mesh Enablement Squad within Launchpad, focusing on coaching, governance and building trusted data products at scale.

You will partner with data domain owners and product managers, embed data standards, and drive data health and observability across domains while expanding enterprise value through reusable data products.

Qualifications

• Experience as a data engineer with modern data platforms, pipelines and data quality practices.
• Understanding of data-as-a-product concepts: ownership, lifecycle, data health, governance.
• Proven ability to coach, enable and uplift capability across teams.
• Ability to operate in federated, influence-based environments with ambiguity.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence without authority.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Data Domain Owners and Data Product Owners to embed ownership and uplift data practices.
• Embed enterprise data standards, guardrails and data-as-a-product practices for delivery.
• Improve data health by enhancing quality, reliability and observability across domains.
• Coach Data Product Owners and teams through data product lifecycle from discovery to scale.
• Uplift data management capability via hands-on coaching and knowledge sharing.
• Capture signals from data domains to feed back to the Data Manager and platform team.
• Identify cross-domain opportunities to increase enterprise value and support data communities of practice.
• Track value and progress of data partnerships for enterprise reporting.
