Job summary

Civmec is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a major project, with strong emphasis on proactive client engagement, risk management and disciplined project delivery in a fast-paced environment. You will influence commercial strategy, head contract administration and closeout across procurement, variations and cost control.

The role includes leading a project commercial team, managing cashflow and reporting, and maintaining governance across contract

Qualifications

• Senior commercial leadership experience on major construction, resources, infrastructure or heavy engineering projects.
• Proven ability to build and lead commercial teams of five or more.
• Strong written and verbal communication to support project decision‑making.
• Experience in risk assessment, contract obligations and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to mentor a project commercial team and foster a high‑performance culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead head contract administration and compliance, including notices, claims and entitlement submissions.
• Drive commercial strategy, variations, EOT and remeasurement to protect entitlements.
• Manage supplier and subcontractor procurement and commercial administration.
• Provide practical contractual guidance to the project team for informed decisions.
• Manage cashflow, progress claims and client payment cycles.
• Oversee cost control, forecasts, cashflow analysis and risk registers.
• Establish systems and governance for tracking variations, risks and actions.
• Handle complex commercial and contractual matters with senior‑level engagement.
• Lead, mentor and develop the project commercial team.
