Job summary

The Department of Justice in Victoria seeks a Senior Aboriginal Workforce Advisor – Projects and Programs within the Aboriginal Justice Group. Reporting to the Manager Aboriginal Workforce Unit, the role coordinates key initiatives under the strategy and contributes to employment and career development goals.

The Senior Advisor routinely provides strategic advice on Aboriginal employment and inclusion across all business areas.

Qualifications

A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, society and culture, and the issues impacting upon it.
A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal community.
A demonstrated knowledge of supporting Aboriginal workforces, including attracting and retaining Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander employees.
Demonstrated experience in the design and/or management of Aboriginal employment or community development initiatives, or comparable experience.

Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of Aboriginal employment programs and initiatives that support the department's Aboriginal Workforce Strategy.
Design, coordinate and deliver stakeholder engagement activities, communications and events for the Aboriginal Staff Network and the broader departmental workforce, ensuring alignment with the objectives of the Aboriginal Workforce Strategy.
Coordinate the delivery of Aboriginal employment programs and funded projects in line with governance requirements, including monitoring progress, identifying and escalating risks, and meeting reporting obligations.
