Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety in Melbourne seeks a Senior Aboriginal Workforce Advisor within the Aboriginal Justice Group. The role coordinates initiatives under the Aboriginal Workforce Strategy and supports the Aboriginal Staff Network, contributing to Victoria's aim of inclusive employment.

The Senior Advisor provides strategic advice on Aboriginal employment and cultural inclusion across the department and represents AWU at events and networks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, society and culture.
• Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.
• Experience in supporting Aboriginal workforces, including attracting and retaining Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander employees.
• Experience in design and/or management of Aboriginal employment or community development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of Aboriginal employment programs and initiatives that support the department's Aboriginal Workforce Strategy.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, communications and events for the Aboriginal Staff Network and broader workforce.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and report on Aboriginal employment programs and funded projects.
