Job summary

VIC Department of Justice and Community Safety in Bendigo is seeking an Aboriginal Advanced Case Manager to lead culturally informed case management for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients with complex needs. You will guide rehabilitation journeys and shape culturally safe practices within the Koori Court framework.

The role emphasises strong communication with Aboriginal communities, applying evidence-based case management, and creating tailored cultural support plans to reduce reoffending.

Qualifications

• Experience in applying evidence-based case management frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal people in the justice system.
• Proven ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal people and communities.
• Ability to apply theory to practice—identifying risk, planning interventions, and supporting behaviour change.
• Mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver meaningful case management for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients, focused on behaviour change and completing correctional orders.
• Create tailored cultural support plans to meet Aboriginal clients' needs.
• Assess risk factors and develop individualized case plans that support rehabilitation and reduce reoffending.
• Provide expert advice to senior leaders and community-based teams on culturally safe approaches.
• Build partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and support services to improve access to culturally appropriate resources.
• Attend Koori Court to provide advice and support.
