Job summary

Certis Security Australia is seeking dedicated Security Officers for a casual, public-facing role in Hervey Bay, Queensland. You will manage access, ensure safety, and deliver excellent customer service to government service site visitors and staff.

Ideal candidates have security or customer service experience, strong communication, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. Shift pattern is Monday to Friday during business hours with no overnights.

Job Impact

We are seeking professional Security Officers to support a high-profile government services site in Hervey Bay, Queensland. This is a frontline role where professionalism, composure and customer service excellence are essential in maintaining a safe and secure public-facing environment.

About the Role

The security team at this site plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, comfort and confidence of the community accessing government services.

As the first point of contact for visitors and staff, you will set the tone, delivering a welcoming, respectful and professional experience while maintaining strict adherence to site procedures and security protocols.

This is a highly customer-focused role requiring strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to confidently manage difficult or sensitive situations. You will be responsible for maintaining site security while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

This is a casual opportunity offering flexibility, with shifts primarily available Monday to Friday during business operating hours.

Roster: Monday to Friday Day Shifts (No nights or weekends)

Location: Hervey Bay, QLD

Key Responsibilities

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

• Managing access points and maintaining a safe and secure environment
• Monitoring customer movements throughout the site
• Delivering exceptional customer service and assistance
• Identifying and responding appropriately to security incidents
• De-escalating challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
• Supporting emergency response procedures when required
• Conducting security checks and maintaining site compliance
• Completing incident reports and daily activity records
• Building positive relationships with staff, customers and members of the public
• Maintaining a strong safety-first approach at all times

• Previous experience in customer service, security or a public-facing role
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage conflict and difficult situations professionally
• Excellent customer service focus and professional presentation
• Strong attention to detail and reporting skills
• Ability to work independently and follow site procedures
• Flexible availability and reliability
• Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced or sensitive environments

Mandatory Requirements

• Current QLD Security Licence (Unarmed and Crowd Control)
• Current First Aid Certificate and CPR
• Unlimited working rights in Australia
• Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check
