Job summary

Exclusive Talent is partnering with an established engineering technology business to recruit a Sales & Applications Engineer based in Sydney. You will own a well-established territory, forging relationships with universities and technical education institutions, and provide technical demonstrations and application support.

The role blends account management, technical applications and new business development, with field-based work and home-office flexibility.

Qualifications

• Background in mechanical, electrical or mechatronics engineering.
• Experience in technical sales or applications engineering.
• Experience with teaching lab equipment is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow an established portfolio of university, TAFE and engineering faculty customers.
• Build relationships with lecturers, academics, laboratory managers, engineering departments and technical decision-makers.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and develop new customer relationships.
• Understand technical teaching and laboratory requirements and recommend appropriate equipment.
• Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations and application support.
• Prepare quotations, proposals and manage sales opportunities.
• Work closely with internal technical specialists and suppliers.
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and achieve agreed targets.
• Provide ongoing customer support and build long-term relationships.

$110K–$120K Base + Super + $8K Car Allowance + Petrol Card + 10% Bonus

About the Opportunity

Exclusive Talent is partnering with an established engineering technology business to recruit a Sales & Applications Engineer based in Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded professional who enjoys combining engineering knowledge with customer-facing sales.

You’ll take ownership of a well-established territory and existing customer portfolio, working closely with universities, TAFEs, engineering faculties and technical education institutions across Sydney.

The role offers a great balance of account management, technical applications and new business development, with the flexibility to work from home when not visiting customers.

The Products You’ll Represent

You’ll work with a specialised portfolio of engineering teaching and laboratory equipment across:

Mechanical engineering and applied mechanics, Fluid mechanics and hydraulics, Thermodynamics and heat transfer, Process control and automation, Renewable energy systems, Electrical and electronic engineering and Pneumatics and engineering training systems

These products support practical teaching, experimentation and technical training within universities and educational institutions.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, building relationships and working directly with customers.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• Experience in technical sales, applications engineering, sales engineering or business development.
• A background in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics or related engineering disciplines.
• Exposure to engineering equipment, laboratory instruments, educational equipment or other technical products.
• Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence engaging with engineers, academics, lecturers and technical stakeholders.
• The ability to understand customer requirements and recommend technical solutions.
• A proactive, organised approach to territory management.

Experience selling teaching equipment is not essential. Candidates from technical sales, scientific instrumentation, engineering applications and related backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
