Job summary

u&u Recruitment Partners seeks a hands-on Safety Advisor to support a busy residential construction site on the city fringe. This permanent role operates six days a week with every hour paid, offering flexibility around occasional Saturdays off.

You will conduct site inspections, identify hazards, and work with the construction team to implement practical safety solutions while promoting safe practices on site.

Join a residential construction project as a hands-on Safety Advisor, providing practical support across a busy city-fringe site. This permanent position is a 6 day a week job site that offers strong earning potential, with every hour worked paid and flexibility around occasional Saturday’s off.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, safety issues and opportunities for improvement;
• Take ownership of safety issues and work collaboratively with the construction team to implement practical solutions;
• Provide hands-on safety advice and guidance to supervisors, trades and workers;
• Engage directly with site teams to promote safe work practices and positive safety behaviours;
• Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of safe systems of work;
• Maintain a visible and active safety presence across the project; and
• Build strong relationships with the construction team while maintaining appropriate safety standards and accountability.

About the Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a practical, proactive and solutions-focused safety professional who enjoys being on site and working directly with construction teams. You will have the confidence to identify an issue, understand the practical challenges involved and work alongside the team to resolve it.

This is not a role for someone who simply identifies non-compliance and takes a photo. The successful candidate will be comfortable getting involved, influencing outcomes and helping the project team find workable solutions.

You will ideally have experience across major construction projects, particularly within high-rise, residential environments.

Requirements for Success

• Relevant WHS / Safety qualification;
• Demonstrated experience in a hands-on construction safety role;
• Strong understanding of construction site hazards, controls and safe systems of work;
• Proven ability to work directly with supervisors, trades and construction crews;
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to identifying and resolving safety issues;
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to influence site teams; and
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-rise construction environment.
